Welcome to Phobos Deimos Engineering
Phobos Deimos Engineering provides contract engineering services for heavy-lift unmanned aerial systems. We take your payload requirement and operational profile and deliver a production-ready airframe package. Our clients own their intellectual property and production rights. Why build an aerospace division from scratch when you can leverage a team that has already done it 25 times?
Our service scope covers the full engineering lifecycle from aerodynamic analysis and structural design through composites fabrication, flight testing, and manufacturing documentation. We maintain in-house CFD analysis capability using an OpenFOAM-based workflow with custom rotor boundary conditions developed specifically for heavy-lift multirotor configurations. Rather than outsource your critical analysis work, let us handle it alongside the rest of the airframe development.
Our Engineering Process
We operate as a Stage 2 engineering firm. This means we pick up where concept design ends and carry your project through to the point where a contract manufacturer can take over. The process breaks down into four phases.
| 1 Requirements + Architecture Payload specs, flight performance targets, environmental constraints. We define the design space together with your team. | 2 Design + Analysis Airframe engineering, CFD analysis, structural FEA, flight dynamics modelling. Every programme gets the full analysis suite. | 3 Prototype + Test Composite fabrication, assembly, flight testing, iteration. We prove the design works before it goes to production. | 4 Manufacturing Setup BOMs, tooling specs, assembly procedures, supplier qualification. Complete handoff package for your production partner. |
Recent Engagements
March 2026 / The CD-12 Ag reference prototype completed certification flight testing. This is a 25 kg MTOW agricultural spray platform with 12 kg payload capacity now entering pilot production for a Canadian ag-tech client.
January 2026 / Second production run of the CD-6 industrial survey platform. Repeat client exercising options for additional airframe sets after a successful first run.
November 2025 / New 2,400 sq ft composites clean room commissioned at our Kitchener facility. Why expand? Our concurrent prototype programmes were exceeding the capacity of the original shop space. The new clean room gives us dedicated prepreg and wet layup stations alongside the existing assembly area.
August 2025 / Completed a CFD validation study for a heavy-lift quadcopter with underslung agricultural payload. Rotor wake interaction analysis and downloadwash characterisation were delivered in support of the client's certification submission.
Featured: CD-12 Ag Agricultural Spray Platform
The CD-12 Ag is a heavy-lift quadcopter designed for precision agricultural spraying. It features an IP54-sealed avionics bay, corrosion-resistant drivetrain components, and a 12 kg underslung spray tank with active damping. Full CFD analysis of rotor wake interaction and downloadwash effects was conducted in-house prior to prototype fabrication. Why take risks with your spray coverage when the aerodynamics have already been validated?
